Season opens tomorrow for walleyes and bass. Thought I'd put a report up
before the craziness begins. Water temps are 43-46 degrees which is warmer
then I had expected. I was thinking it was only going to be in the upper
30's. I was very excited to see it wasn't. Water charity is very good right
now. It was hard to tell how clear due to the clouds and waves but it is
clear. Weeds are just starting to grow with no more then one or two feet
off the bottom right now. They are calling for snow tomorrow. Should be an
interesting opening weekend. Good luck if you get out.

Wind, wind and more wind was the theme for the weekend. I fished hard on
Saturday before I had boat issues. Water temps are still in the mid 40's.
Picked up smallies throwing lipless crank baits and jerkbaits. Water is
clear so I was using natural colors while the sun was out and colored baits
when it was cloudy. Fish were very stacked up. One point would hold lots of
fish and another one wouldn't. The smallies have been eating well and get
fat for the spawn. I did pick five keeper walleyes while smallie fishing.
Nothing over 18 inches but good eaters. Good luck if you get out this week.
